The Best Places to Eat in Stockholm
Wherever you choose to go for a weekend break or a longer holiday, you are probably going to end up eating out more often than you would if you were at home. But some destinations are better known for their gastronomy than others, and Stockholm could certainly be included in this group.
As the capital of Sweden, perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that Stockholm should contain so many delightful places to eat. Even if you were staying in the capital for a week, you wouldn’t need to eat in the same place twice. But where do you begin? Which restaurant would you head to first?
One of the more unusual and most popular restaurants on offer is called Abyssinia. This is an Ethiopian styled restaurant that encourages you to forget about your knife and fork and use your hands instead. The food here has won awards so if you have never tasted authentic Ethiopian food before, now is the perfect opportunity to do so.
Some restaurants are cheaper to eat in than others, and you can include a charming venue known as Tennstopet in this category. This is the place to go if you want to sample some true Swedish classics on the menu. More traditional dishes can be found at a reasonable price if you head to Hjordis, which is located in Sodermalm. This is a welcoming venue that is pleasant and relaxing as well, so it provides an all round nice destination for those wanting a casual and laid back venue with good food.
Of course every now and then you may want to blow the budget and sample some of Stockholm’s pricier restaurants. If you feel in this mood you can head into Norrmalm and find Fredsgatan 12. Make sure you reserve a table beforehand as you won’t be able to get in otherwise. Creativity is the watchword at this venue, and it is known for its signature tasting menu that runs over eleven courses. Take your time and enjoy perfection as you sample their fine range of superb dishes.
You can probably tell by now that there are experiences for all tastes and desires in Stockholm. When you are hungry you can simply decide how much to spend and what you’d like to eat – and you can expect a whole experience to be build around it. Don’t miss The Restaurangen either, which offers the chance to cater to your tastes. Every taste stems from one particular spice so you can simply see which ones you particularly want to try.
The best part about eating out in Stockholm is that when you check into your Arlanda Airport hotel you won’t be far from some of the best eateries in the city.
