Salamanca lies on the way to Portugal
Salamanca is a city in Spain located at a distance of two and half hours from its capital city. It is highly regarded as one of the most important cities of Spain because of many reasons. It has a great location as it’s located on the way to Portugal. For most of the tourists Salamanca is the final stop over when they go to Portugal from Spain. It is a very neat and clean city with having all the modern day facilities.
There are many foreigners that live in Salamanca for learning Spanish language. The city is also known as University City as it has one of the oldest universities of Spain. It is not very big city but it still has places that are worth exploring because of their uniqueness. The best way is to have at least two days stay in this city for exploring it in the best possible way. Another thing that should be done before visiting Salamanca is to have a map of city beforehand so that time is not wasted when the city is visited in locating various places.
Salamanca can be approached easily by two airports. One of them is in Valladolid and the other one is in Madrid. This city is located at a distance of around 200 kilometers from Madrid. The easiest way to reach this city from Madrid is by Train. It is fast and it costs almost the same as the bus journey costs. It can be approached from Valladolid in the similar way. Some of the famous places in the city include Cathedral Nueva, University of Salamanca, Universidad Civil, Plaza Mayor, New Cathedral and Plaza Anaya. Apart from these places there are many aesthetic looking churches in the city. There are historical buildings that are well preserved and having great architecture even today.
There is a famous festival celebrated in this city in the month of September every year. This festival is known as Virgen de la Vega. The city becomes very much crowded in the month of September. Apart from that the city is very lively in other months also. The villa holiday spain has a great nightlife and places of enjoyment for people visiting it in any season. In winter people prefer to wear jackets as the city turns colder. The land in Salamanca is fertile and agricultural. For the same reasons the city is lush green at many places.
