Modern Family ‘After the Fire’ Review
The main even taking place in this episode of Modern Family is the burning down of a house in the neighborhood. The family living in that house is now stranded, and the situation looks quite tragic. However, this week’s installment of Modern Family is bound to provoke laughter, as chaos shakes us the Dunphies and the Prichetts.
This episode focuses on how members of families interact in regards to mundane tasks. Alex and Hayley fight over who should get the chores down, while Gloria jokes about how Jay becomes totally lost to world whenever there is a football game on TV.
Hayley does not waste one occasion to make fun at Alex, claiming she should give away all her wardrobe to the stranded family, in her opinion, the only way for Alex to renew her clothes, and finally stop looking so socially awkward.
Alex does not back down from the fight and she uses her charm to show why it is better to be smart and pretty than popular and beautiful. She just tells Hayley that one day, her fans will be Hayley’s fans’ bosses, which is just how time has its own way of setting things straight.
”Clown sleeping” seems to be the latest catch for Cam’s scenes, who simply goes to bed dressed as a clown, wearing a clown makeup. When Mitchell wakes up, he gets the unwished opportunity to meet a clown in his bed, no other than Cam in his “clown sleeping” form, and chaos ensues.
When the girls start making fun of him that he cannot drive a truck, Cam becomes upset and wants to prove himself. He thinks that Hayley and Alex are pulling his chain only because he is gay, and, therefore, not man enough to sit behind the wheel of a truck. However, the girls try to convince him that their disbelief in his driver’s skills has nothing to do with his sexual orientation. Cam wants to make a demonstration and almost tips the truck over, while having the girls with him.
Gloria is spending a lot of time with Mitchell, which makes Claire go on a jealousy trip. Since Claire sees a mother in Gloria, she is truly the one with the issue, and Gloria wants to set things straight by encouraging Claire to call her whenever she feels like talking to someone.
A toy helicopter is the reason why Manny and Luke are being bullied by some older kids. The toy is stolen, although it should have been given to one of the kids whose house caught fire. Eventually, Alex manages to take the toy from the bullies and give it back to the boys.
Phil texts Jay to say that he has a tension in his muscles that does not want to go away. When texting back, Jay somehow manages to tell Phil he is in love with him. However, since Phil gets another message in the same time, concerning an opening to a law firm, Jay’s message gets lost in translation, and things do not come to a conclusion just yet.
