Most people, who are looking for quality personal storage in Beirut, often devote considerable effort and time in finding a self storage facility that’s most suited to their requirements. They are known to do their due diligence in evaluating potential providers against multiple parameters such as security, space on offer, special facilities, etc. However, one’s role is not limited to merely finding the best service provider that’s out there.

There are certain measures that one can take to protect their valuables in storage. Self storage facilities are often used as an extension to a home, and, like the latter, they too are prone to being ravaged by dust. This is often true for facilities that are located in dust prone spots, like highway centers or units built on the city outskirts.

A great way to protect your belongings from dust is by renting a climate controlled facility. However, such facilities are best suited to delicate items such as paper and fabric based products, or electric and electronic goods. Furniture pieces such as chairs and tables can be protected with dedicated furniture covers. Old bed-sheets or curtains make for great covers when it comes to protecting large and bulky items. To prevent slippage and accidental exposure to dust, all covers must be secured properly, either by tie downs or by means of a non-marking masking tape.

While it is highly uncommon that the roof of a storage facility may get blown off, it is still a possibility in regions where there are occasional strong winds. Rather than risk damage to your belongings via a breach in the roof, it is a good practice to cover everything under a strong tarp. This way, your belongings will have another layer of protection as backup.

For most other items, a good way to protect them is to wrap them up in old newspapers and pack them in corrugated, cardboard boxes. Most boxes these days, come with a high level of sturdiness and hence, make them prone for reuse. Care must be taken however, to check for damage that may jeopardize the integrity of the box structure. This is important, due to the stackable nature of cardboard boxes. Items stored within them, could be damaged, if the box structure were to fail.

Premium storage solutions providers often have an in-house sourcing solution for packaging materials. One should always check if your solutions provider offers any assistance with the same. At Beirut Moving and Storage, one can find a wide range of packaging materials that suit your every need. From corrugated boxes to bubble wrap, one can find it all, when you come to the leading name for household storage in Beirut.
