Paris the Louvre Attractions

One of the top attractions in Paris regardless of which of the many cheap Paris hotels a traveller stays in is the Louvre. A massive museum that can take even the most hardcore of art enthusiasts a week or more to explore, this is definitely one of the major sites that tourists hit when they come to the city. Of course, getting in and seeing everything the museum has to offer is another adventure all to itself, considering that most days of the week the lines are incredibly long, with many people showing up two or three hours before the doors open at nine in the morning. Bear in mind that the museum is closed on Tuesdays, and most travel veterans warn against coming from Paris hotels to visit the Louvre on Sunday mornings, because the lines can literally stretch around the entire property perimeter.

There are a few things within the Louvre that most people go to straightaway, such as the Mona Lisa and the various 13th through 15th century Italian paintings. But there are also a number of permanent collections and temporary exhibitions which can be explored, depending upon the tastes of each individual traveller. There are extensive paintings from all across Europe, as well as a vast range of exhibits featuring Islamic and Egyptian antiquities such as sculptures and art prints. Regardless of which day you come to the museum be sure to hold onto your map, because the Louvre is a giant maze that is easy to get lost in if it is your first time.
