Have you ever heard of the ‘splash shots’? They are basically pictures of some objects or an object when dropped into water; becomes a splash shot. These shots are most likely used in advertisements and when done in a proper form they will simply grab your attention. It is important that you know what the elements are that would go into making a splash shot successful. Food is the most common subject that is used in these shots; any subject can be used for this purpose. You can start with strawberries or lemons.

Try to build a backdrop using some acrylic sheets. Use the three sheets to make the wall and the last sheet for the floor. Then hold all the three sheets together and stick with a cellophane tape.

Use the background and place the table. Then you can fill the glass with two-thirds’ of water and avoid trying to creating the bubbles on the side of the glass. Then place it in the center of the backdrop.

Place the EOS or the Photography camera on top of the tripod and try to place it at least three feet from the table; avoid getting wet. Adjust the camera in such a manner that the lens is facing the glass directly. In the focal length, zoom the lenses. It’s your choice; you can place the glass on the frame; zoom the edges that are not visible. It would help in creating an illusion that the fruit is dropping into the water.

Next focus on the lights and position them on the either side of the backdrop. Aim them in such a manner that they are faced to the opposite sides of the backdrop. The white element would eventually reflect the light and would make the droplets more visible. Focus the camera on the glass or hold the strawberry in the water and focus. After focusing the camera don’t touch the lens or move the camera even an inch. Before getting the actual image take some test shots so that you know the desired effect that you wish to have. Use the polarizing filter to reduce the glare and adjust the settings of the camera.

Press the camera’s shutter-release and drop the strawberry in the water. Do not look into the viewfinder as it will become easier to press the shutter release. Take a few shots and then look at them in the preview window. Make any necessary adjustments of required. An EOS or a photography camera will work wonders for this job.
