Developing Patriotism in a Child

Do you think the sense of patriotism in Children is the same as it was before? The answer perhaps would be no, because Indian children have become highly influenced by western culture. As a result, it makes them alien from their own national identity. The present generation does not have the sense of patriotism and religious pride. If the same situation continues, the country will shortly be devastated. Therefore, parents must try to develop the sense of patriotism in their kids. Through unity and homogeneity of the people of the country, integrity of the nation is made sure.

We often say that today’s children are the future of the nation. So, it is essential to develop the extreme sense of patriotism amongst children from their early days of life. Otherwise, they fail to develop the sense of making sacrifice for the welfare of their society and country when they grow up. For example, in countries like Israel, citizens scattered all over the planet could come together after so many generations to make a new country, only because of their strong sense of patriotism inherited by them from early generations.

In fact the sense of nationalism can also be created in the kids from the study of history, but unfortunately our educational structure is quantity oriented where it should have been quality based. The children are assessed on the basis of their marks they get in the examinations; therefore, the students only concentrate in scoring high marks. The students learn history only for the sake of their syllabus. This outlook should be changed both by parents and teachers. Children should be made realized that history should be learnt not only to score good marks but also to develop the sense of nationalism. The parents and teachers themselves should develop the same outlook only then they can change the way of thinking of their kids.

The nation will get doomed soon, if the next generation doesn’t show any affection towards the nation. If nation survives, then only the society will survive, so parents should take the initiative to develop the feeling of patriotism in the children. This very sense must be inculcated in the minds of children from a very early age.Parents should take their children with them when they go for vote. They should also talk to them regarding the country. Many times, patriotic films also work a lot in making the children patriotic. With a little effort, children can easily develop the feeling of nationalism.
