Distance learning has emerged as a blessing for everyone because it provides educational opportunities to all people from every walk of life. Distance learning mode of education has always been there in the form of correspondence courses. In correspondence courses the students were able to enroll for courses of their choice; the study material of the course was sent to the students through postal services and the students had to send their assignments in a similar manner. But there were chances of study material and assignments getting lost on their way to their destination. There was no direct interaction between the students and instructors. Further, at that time correspondence courses were not considered equivalent to regular mode of education.

Further, these courses are recognized and accepted by the educators and employers provided if the courses are pursued from reputed institutions.

Distance Learning Courses provide several benefits to the students. They provide much flexibility to the students like flexibilities of location time and pace. These courses allow the students to study from their home comfortably without attending any regular classes at a time when they feel convenient. The students are given the freedom to study according to their learning capabilities without any peer pressure. Therefore, these distance learning courses enable the students to combine education with their day to day personal and professional responsibilities so that they can study without making any compromises.

However, while applying for Distance Learning Courses it is essential for the students to make sure that the university or institution they are applying in is accredited or not because pursuing a course from an unaccredited institution is worth nothing because it will not be accepted by the educators as well as employers.
