One can enjoy a half day or full day city tour which includes the world famous Roman Hercules tower which is a very ancient lighthouse with 239 steps. Many visitors have enjoyed the climb up to its top to view the picturesque panorama from this 2,000-year-old UNESCO World Heritage site. This tower was built by the Romans as a defensive structure over its seas against possible pirate attacks.
Other attractions found in this city include the 16th century San Antón Castle; this ancient fortress is located on an island which makes a worthy visit. Another ancient castle is Castillo de San Diego; it has been converted into an interesting local archaeological museum. There are also many ancient cathedrals and churches that showcase their colorful history and beautiful structures. One can explore the rich history of this region through its many ancient and rich structures which must be enjoyed leisurely.
Families on vacation to La Coruña would also enjoy the massive aquarium “La Casa de los Peces” which boasts of more than 300 marine species that would delight visitors of all ages.
