Seven wonders of world

The New seven wonders foundation attempted to revive the spirits of the seven wonders of ancient world with modern list which comprised an addition to the ancient list. An online poll was conducted in which more than 100 million people participated and decided the new Seven Wonders of the World. The decision was taken on July 7th 2007 in Lisbon. The decision was made through global votes on its website. These new seven wonders were a celebration of religion, mythology, art, power and science. They reflect the ability of humans to change the surrounding landscape by building massive yet beautiful structures all of which stood the test of time to this very day.

The official New Seven Wonders of World are Chichen Itzá, the most famous Mayan temple city, served as the political and economic center of the Mayan civilization. Christ Redeemer, Rio de Janerio This statue of Jesus stands some 38 meters tall, atop the Corcovado Mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro. The Roman Colosseum, Rome, and Italy this great amphitheater in the centre of Rome was built to celebrate the glory of the Roman Empire. Taj Mahal, India This immense mausoleum was built on the orders of Shah Jahan, to honor the memory of his beloved late wife. The Great Wall of China It is the largest man-made monument ever to have been built. Petra, Jordan On the edge of the Arabian Desert, Petra was the glittering capital of the Nabataean empire of King Aretas IV. Masters of water technology, the Nabataeans provided their city with great tunnel constructions and water chambers. Machu Picchu, Peru In the 15th century, the Incan Emperor Pachacútec built a city in the clouds on the mountain known as Machu Picchu ("Old Mountain").
