Learn How to Tear Through Demon Hordes Using your Diablo 3 Followers
So you think you are the biggest, baddest, toughest beast to ever fight the demon hordes? That doesn’t mean you should always go alone. In this Diablo 3 Guide, you get all the details about how to work with followers to increase your killing power.
In Diablo 3, going alone can be a fun challenge, but it isn’t always the wisest choice. Luckily, there are non-player characters built into the game called followers. These followers accompany you on your journey and provide different helpful abilities based on their follower Diablo 3 class. Each unique follower you meet has their own story to tell and a reason for fighting the coming darkness. You can meet and recruit three different followers: A Templar, Enchantress, and Scoundrel. Each follower will be found along the players’ journey through Sanctuary. There is a quest that introduces you to who they are why they exist. Once the follower’s trust is earned, they can be found in town, ready and waiting for you to ask for their help.
The first Diablo 3 Class of follower is the Templar, Kormac. He is a spear-wielding warrior that is heavily armored and ready to rumble. He can be specced into either a tanking or supportive healing role. The Enchantress, Eirena, follows more of a ranged DPS role. However, she can also be specced to enhance the player character through powerful spells and enemy confusion. Finally, the Scoundrel, Lyndon, is a rogue wanderer. He carries a crossbow that lends him towards traditional damage and crowd control options.
It’s important to understand how these followers differ from Diablo 2’s hirelings. Hirelings were generic characters that acted as aids in times of trouble. However, Diablo 3’s followers have their own story, their own place in the world, and even their own skills. They have fully customizable armor and skill augments. Followers are there to augment and enhance both the play and the story, rather than just pick up a failing player. Think companion rather than pet. Each follower has a total of twelve skills, and players choose just four to use. New skills unlock every five levels, up to level twenty. As the follower levels up, their unique look will continue to grow in intensity, allowing them to look even more fierce and ready to destroy demons.
The last part of this Diablo 3 Leveling Guide details the when, where, and how of followers. Although followers are found throughout the story, it is up to the player’s discretion as to when to use them. Followers will stay near your level, so you never have to go back and farm experience. If your follower dies while with you, they will go out of commission for a short time, during which you lose any benefits they offer. After the short time is over, the follower will rejoin you. You do not have direct control of the follower, but instead they will act upon the spec you give them. No matter how you play, a follower can increase the speed and intensity at which you tear through Sanctuary and defeat the demon hoard.
